Something of a miracle emerged from last summer's Station Fire in Southern California. After the fire cooled, biologists stumbled upon a creek in the mountains near Los Angeles that was teeming with hundreds of endangered red-legged frogs. But winter storms and debris flows in the burn area may pose a deadly threat to the frogs.
