Today, state water officials will trek into the Sierra for one last snow survey of the season. There was snow falling in Tahoe as recently as this week, maybe giving the state's water supply an extra boost...or maybe not. Scientists are trying to improve snow melt forecasts, but there is still a lot we don't understand about how and when the mountain runoff makes its way to reservoirs.
