Here's a great example of a professional organization joining the education community.

The PBS NewsHour launched a journalism project called Student Reporting Labs, whereby students work with NewsHour journalists to produce news reports. The program focuses on at-risk school and community settings.

The pilot project began last year, and included 230 students who tackled topics like climate change and the Supreme Court from their perspective.

Students in Austin, Texas, interviewed a judge, a law professor, and a parent about life sentences for juveniles, and students in Salt Lake City interviewed constitutional experts about the difference between the rights of minors and the rights of parents.
