With the lawsuit by veterans groups against the Department of Veterans Affairs beginning in federal court in San Francisco, we look at a recent study finding that one in five Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder or major depression. Then in the second half-hour, in light of Friday’s 102nd anniversary of the great San Francisco Earthquake, we look at the first official study forecasting statewide earthquake probabilities.

Guests:

Lisa Jaycox, senior behavioral scientist for RAND and co-author of the RAND report "Invisible Wounds of War" (first half-hour)

Richard Allen, assistant professor at UC Berkeley in the Seismological Lab (second half-hour)

Tom Parsons, geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey and contributing author to the recent study on earthquakes in California (second half-hour)

Scott Shafer, host and correspondent for KQED's The California Report (first half-hour)
