Los Angeles Democratic legislator Anthony Rendon took the helm Monday as the new speaker of the state Assembly. Thanks to new, looser term limits, Rendon could hold the job for nearly a decade. The former Head Start leader had a key role in passing a $7.5 billion water bond, and strongly supports public assistance programs, like public housing and food stamps. And we’ll hear about his other priorities, like reducing childhood poverty, and getting more Californians to the ballot box.
