On this Veterans Day, we’ll discuss the sometimes difficult transition veterans face when they move from from military service to college. Many veterans use their GI benefits to gain access to higher education, but studies show student veterans face challenges other than financial ones — challenges such as adjusting to civilian life and isolation. We’re joined by several veterans and some of those helping them with the transition from combat to college.

Guests:

Elena Klaw, former chair of the Veterans' Advisory Committee; professor of psychology at San Jose State University

Robert Muth, managing attorney, Veterans Legal Clinic; adjunct professor of law, University of San Diego; veteran of the Iraq war

Daniel Tripp, current reservist in the U.S. Air Force; graduate student at Golden Gate University

Jeremy Garner, student at UC Berkeley; was a hospital corpsman in the Navy

Francisco Perez-Lopez, Las Positas College student and combat veteran
