Gene Baur’s activism started by selling vegetarian hot dogs at Grateful Dead concerts to raise money. He went on to co-found Farm Sanctuary, the nation’s first rescue organization dedicated to farm animals and raising awareness about the abuses of factory farming. His new book, “Living the Farm Sanctuary Life,” shares stories of rescued animals and offers tips for a plant-based diet.
