Oakland voters have 15 candidates to choose from for mayor. Under the city's ranked-choice voting system, voters are asked to pick their top three candidates. Forum talks with a panel of reporters covering the race about the candidates, the issues and how ranked-choice voting works.

Seven candidates for Oakland mayor participated in a forum on Thursday, Sept. 4. They outlined their positions on a wide range of topics including public safety, police militarization, education and economic development. The event was hosted by the John George Democratic Club, Oakland East Bay Democratic Club, Black Women Organized for Political Action, Niagara Democratic Club.
