 (Brenden Fraser/Footloose Forays)

Adventure travel guide and naturalist Michael Ellis has just returned from the Lakes Basin region in the Northern Sierra Nevada, where he helps people spot wildflowers and bears. Since he was last on Forum he’s traveled to central Bhutan, Turkey and the Pacific island nations of Palau and Yap. He’s also been back to Tanzania, where he narrowly escaped death by a Cape Buffalo. We talk with Ellis about the natural world and the adventures to be found in our backyard and across the globe.

Travel guide Michael Ellis loves to hula hoop all around the world – including at Burning Man, where he gave a fiery performance.
