Author Anne Germanacos' new novel features an unusual structure. It consists of a series of self-contained sentences and fragments, almost like a notebook. "I just keep scraping away everything that seems extraneous and I end up with just these little bits," she says. Germanacos employs the experimental style to bring immediacy to her story of a woman tending to her dying mother, and to grapple with issues of mortality and desire. Germanacos' work has appeared in over 60 literary reviews and anthologies.
