Twenty-three years after concluding his trilogy of books about the fictional Irish band The Commitments, author Roddy Doyle is reviving his main character, Jimmy Rabbitte. His latest entry in the series, “The Guts” finds the middle-aged hustler Rabbitte struggling to resurrect his soul band while juggling marriage, fatherhood and bowel cancer. The Booker Prize winner joins us to talk about his new book and the transformation of working-class Dublin.
