Terry McMillan's 'Who Asked You?'

Best-selling novelist Terry McMillan tackles themes of race, feminism, family and friendship in her newest book, “Who Asked You?” The novel is written as a series of first-person narratives centered on the struggles of a family matriarch suddenly left in charge of her grandchildren while also juggling a son in prison, an ill husband and a job delivering room service at a hotel. We talk with McMillan about her new book and how her previous novels, including the blockbusters “Waiting to Exhale” and “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” brought glamorous African-American characters to a wide audience.
