Amid much controversy, the House Homeland Security Committee, chaired by NY Republican Peter King, opens hearings on Thursday on the radicalization of American Muslims. King and others allege that al-Qaeda is recruiting from within the Muslim-American community, while opponents call the inquiry a witch hunt reminiscent of the McCarthy hearings.
