In the early 1970s, actor and writer John Cleese transformed comedy. As part of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” Cleese popularized sketch comedy that was equal parts slapstick sight gags and erudite references. He followed that show up with “Fawlty Towers,” which is often referred to as Britain’s best sitcom. We’ll talk with Cleese about all things Flying Circus as well as something (not quite) completely different — his current project with Monty Python alumnus Eric Idle.
