California is set to approve a fumigant for strawberries, allowing workers to be exposed to the chemical at levels 120 times higher than what state scientists say is safe. Methyl iodide, a carcinogen, is also linked to miscarriages and neurological problems. Critics say the fumigant is far too dangerous for farm workers.
