Historian Garry Wills’ new book explores the ways the U.S. development of the atomic bomb transformed the nation and the government. He argues the Manhattan Project led to a dramatic increase in presidential power, and led the country into a constant state of war-alert over the next 60 years. Wills joins us to talk about his book, “Bomb Power: The Modern Presidency and The National Security State.” Garry Wills’ other books include “What Jesus Meant” and the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Lincoln at Gettysburg.”

Guests:

Garry Wills, author and professor emeritus of history at Northwestern University
