Is Lovely’s the best burger in the Bay? It’s certainly a contender. This popular Oakland burger joint routinely attracts long lines of rabid East Bay hamburger enthusiasts, eager to get a fix. Owner Mikey Yoon started Lovely’s as a pop-up before graduating to a repurposed shipping container restaurant in downtown Oakland in 2021. His food is nostalgic American diner fare, inspired by the East Coast and Midwest delis and diners of his youth. Expertly-seasoned and juicy items including their Drive Thru burger, Chili Willy burger, The Fishwich, and corn fritters were menu stand-outs for us. Even though Mikey insists he’s just trying to run a classic neighborhood burger joint and is not out to “wow” anyone, we can’t say we weren’t impressed.
