Ticket Alert: How to See the RM-Curated Show at SFMOMA

We write ticket alerts all the time. For Issa Rae’s 10-year anniversary tour of Insecure. For Bruce Springsteen and Ariana Grande concerts. But this is definitely the first ticket alert I’ve ever written for a museum exhibition.

When it comes to anything related to BTS (the Korean superstar group), we know there will be crowds involved. We’ve been bracing ourselves for this moment since last October, when the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art first announced an upcoming exhibition curated by BTS band leader RM (Kim Namjoon), including work from his own personal art collection. 

In order to see RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me, which runs Oct. 3, 2026–Feb. 7, 2027, visitors must book timed tickets in advance. 

Here’s the nitty gritty: SFMOMA members ($130 for individuals, discounts available for seniors, young adults and working artists) can make reservations for the Oct. 1–3 preview days starting today.

From the looks of it, there’s already been a rush: the SFMOMA site currently displays a red warning bar across the top of the page, claiming it’s experiencing “unusually high web traffic.” Just clicking on the “ticketing” aspect of the museum’s website put me in an hour-plus-long queue. 

General admission timed tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at tickets.sfmoma.org. You can purchase up to 10 tickets per transaction. Tickets for RM x SFMOMA will not be available in person at the museum — you must book timed visits in advance.

The museum is also offering something called an “encore pass,” which goes on sale Aug. 11. This $75 ticket allows for unlimited repeat visits to Between You and Me during the full run of the show. Encore pass holders will also receive a “special gift” and a 10% discount in the exhibition store. 

What is everyone rushing to see? This large-scale show brings together nearly 200 works from both RM and SFMOMA’s collections, featuring Korean artists like Chang Ucchin and Kim Yun Shin, alongside museum artists like Nam June Paik and Agnes Martin. RM’s collection is centered on modern and contemporary Korean art, but it includes work that dates as far back as the 13th century. The show is co-curated by SFMOMA’s América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim.

RM’s fingerprints are on basically every aspect of the presentation: he recorded an audio guide in English and Korean; he authored the bilingual wall text; and an RM-curated playlist of songs will loop through the galleries. This will be the only U.S. presentation of the show.
