Burger Boogaloo, the Bay Area’s premiere festival for punk and garage rock, announced its 2018 lineup Monday — and it’s a doozy.
Headlining this year’s Burger Boogaloo festival are punk pioneers Devo and The Damned, with the rest of the lineup including older punk acts like the Dwarves, the Mummies and the Dickies. Filmmaker and “Sultan of Sleaze” John Waters returns as host.
This year’s Burger Boogaloo also hosts several notable reunions, including the first show in 15 years from snotty So Cal punkers Le Shok. Many of the reuniting bands are local, like San Francisco’s garage punk icons The Rip Offs, who haven’t played a show in five years; and Battleship, the chaotic post-punkers from Oakland who haven’t come together for 10 years.
Burger Boogaloo began nine years ago and has slowly grown from a one-day festival in Mosswood Park to a two-day event with headliners like Iggy Pop playing to thousands. This year, $69 early bird tickets — made available before the lineup was announced — sold out not long after. Now that the lineup has been announced for June 30 and July 1, general admission passes are $169, on sale this Wednesday, March 7, at 9am. For more information, visit the event page on Facebook.
