Dee Dee Bridgewater's latest album harkens back to her hometown of Memphis.

Dee Dee Bridgewater is reminding us at 67 years of age why she’s such a great artist — stretching beyond familiar territory in jazz to dig into classic soul from Memphis, her hometown. She covers Bobby Bland, Al Green and Ann Peebles, among others, on Memphis … Yes I’m Ready. Fun fact: Bridgewater recorded this latest entirely with musicians from the city. NPR fans will also recall her fine work on NPR’s JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater. She performs March 8, 2018, at Montalvo Arts Center; details here.
