The trailer has been released for "Fruitvale Station," the film about the last day in the life of 22-year-old Oscar Grant, who was shot to death by BART police in the early morning hours of New Year's Day, 2009.
The film debuted at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, winning the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film. It also has been selected to compete in the upcoming 2013 Cannes Film Festival, which begins this Wednesday.
The Weinstein Company won a bidding war for rights to the film, which was written and directed by Ryan Coogler, for approximately $2 million.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters July 16, 2013.
