California law allows victims of childhood sex abuse to sue the perpetrators or their employers, but only until the age of 26. A bill pending in Sacramento would offer survivors a one-year window free of that age limit. If the measure passes, it would be the second opportunity of its kind in recent years. Organizations that took a big hit the first time around, such as the Catholic Church, are fighting to keep the bill from passing.
