On Saturday, activists in Los Angeles, San Francisco and cities around the world will participate in a global march for elephants and rhinos. It's designed to draw attention to the slaughter of over 30,000 elephants and more than 1,000 rhinos each year -- killed for the illegal wildlife trade in jewelry, trinkets and medicinals. San Francisco and Los Angeles are the second and third largest U.S. markets for ivory, after New York.
