If Rep. Kevin McCarthy wins the vote next Thursday to succeed John Boehner as speaker of the house, it will mark another historical first for California. It would be the first time a house speaker and a minority leader -- currently Nancy Pelosi -- will represent the same state. We talk with Noah Bierman, who covers Congress for the LA Times.
