Terminally Ill San Diego Woman Plans to Take Advantage of Aid-In-Dying Law

California has a new law that allows terminally ill patients in certain circumstances to choose to end their own lives. The End of Life Option Act took effect Thursday, and so far there's been at least one legal challenge. A conservative group called the American Academy of Medical Ethics has filed a lawsuit in Riverside. It's too soon to say if legal challenges will stop or delay the new law. Today, we hear from a terminally ill woman with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, who says in the coming days she plans to take a lethal dose of drugs before the disease destroys her.
