The Museum of Broken Relationships
We start with a new museum in Los Angeles. It's not filled with paintings or sculpture, but with relics of the broken-hearted. It's called the Museum of Broken Relationships. The idea started when Croatian artists Olinka Vistica and Drazen Grubisic ended their romance in 2003. They were left with ordinary, seemingly insignificant items they'd shared that really only meant something to them. And they did what artists do: They turned them into art. Along with pieces donated from friends' failed love affairs, they opened the first branch of the museum in Zagreb. And now, as reporter Peter Gilstrap tells us, a new L.A. branch of the museum has found a home in the building that once housed the lingerie shop Frederick's of Hollywood.

Badminton at the Summer Olympics in Rio
The California Report talks with two athletes from our state -- one who is going to the Olympics in Rio; the other awaits announcement of her team's roster. Twenty-five year old Howard Shu is the highest ranked U.S. badminton player in men's singles. Host Sasha Khokha speaks with Shu.

Women's Rugby at the Summer Olympics
U.S. Women's Rugby Sevens player Jillion Potter hopes to be part of the U.S. team playing in the first ever women's rugby at the Olympics. For her, crashing about on the field against a team of fierce women has been the least of her challenges. KPBS reporter Claire Trageser profiles Potter.

The World According to Sound: Bridge Music
Tourists love to snap photos of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. But does anyone ever listen to the Bridge? Our friends at The World According to Sound did. And they bring us this next story about the noises -- and music -- bridges make.

New Jazz Releases
The California Report's Suzie Racho and our jazz critic Andrew Gilbert talk about two new releases from two very different Bay Area artists: Melissa Morgan's new album "Days Like This," and Kat Parra's "Songbook of the Americas." Every month, Suzie and Andrew bring us the latest releases from California jazz musicians.
