The Happy Camp Complex Fire in the Klamath National Forest has expanded to 107,359 acres and is 30 percent contained. Meanwhile in Yosemite, The Half Dome Cables -- popular attractions at the park that have been closed due to the Meadow Fire -- are set to re-open Saturday.

Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to Sacramento on Monday to unveil his official state portrait. The reveal did not come without controversy, as it turned out the former Governor had his ex-wife erased from the portrait.

A team at UC Davis is working to identify the next disease like Ebola, before it becomes a pandemic. For four years, in 20 different countries, they’ve been testing animals for viruses. So far, they’ve found more than 800, the vast majority of them new to science.

Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area in Pleasanton can draw more than 50,000 people during the hot, dry summer months. This year, Shadow Cliffs has seen the most severe effects of the drought of any park in the East Bay Regional Park District.
