An adult female humpback whale swimming in shallow water around Alameda is now "one step closer" to the open bay.
The whale has been seen swimming around the shores of Alameda for over 10 days and appears to be underweight, according to a Marine Mammal Center researcher.
Meandering through the water near container ships and ferryboats is definitely not a good idea for a humpback whale.
Here's hoping she finds the Golden Gate and keeps going.
