Unhealthy air quality will persist at least through Friday, leading the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to extend the current Spare the Air alert.

Smoke from the Camp Fire — now the deadliest fire in California history — has continued to blanket the Bay Area and led schools in Sonoma County to close while many other school districts have kept children inside.

If you can’t stay inside, officials recommend wearing an N95 respirator mask to keep dangerous microscopic particles from getting into your lungs.
