Shuttered Orange County Needle Exchange Hopes to Bring  Service to the Streets

Back in January, the only needle exchange program in Orange County had to shut their doors due to a Santa Ana ordinance banning them from operating a location in the Santa Ana Civic Center. Now organizers are hoping to take their work on the road by creating a mobile needle exchange.

California National Guard officials say they are reviewing a request by the Trump administration to deploy more guard troops along the southwestern border. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation to allow the deployment yesterday. The move follows earlier statements from the president warning of a coming wave of immigrants to the U.S.

Legislators in Sacramento have three months to finalize next year’s budget, and higher education advocates are ramping up their efforts. Both systems say they need more than Governor Brown proposed: UC says it needs $140 million more, and CSU says it needs about $170 million more.
