GOP Assemblyman Aims to Help Low-Income Drivers Pay for Parking Tickets
A Republican state legislator is joining forces with the American Civil Liberties Union on a bill to make it easier for low-income drivers to pay off their parking tickets. Southern California Assemblyman Tom Lackey said a $68 citation can quickly balloon to more than $500 with late fees and other penalties.

Yesterday, the Assembly passed a $3 billion parks bond along party lines that could go before voters in 2018. Bill author Eduardo Garcia of the Coachella Valley says the state and local park improvements would be focused on low-income communities.
