Below is the audio for the first and second segments of Tuesday's oral arguments on same-sex marriage before the Supreme Court of the United States. There's a little history here: Observers say that although the court has released same-day audio in the past, this is the first time audio has been provided while the arguments were still in progress.

The first segment of today's arguments took up the question of whether state bans on same-sex marriage violate 14th Amendment guarantees of equal protection and due process under the law.

The second segment focuses on whether states' refusal to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states violates the Constitution's Full Faith and Credit clause.
