San Francisco International Airport has started allowing food trucks to park at the departure level of Terminal 1 today, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to airport spokesperson Doug Yakel, the initial response has been good: "Great turnout today; I was planning to wait until the end (to get food) as lines were quite long. I’m told that one of the two trucks has already sold out!"

The two food trucks from the vendor group Off The Grid were offering offering Hawaiian and Indian food

Various food trucks will be there today and the next three Thursdays from  11 a.m. to 2 p.m. After the four-week trial period, airport officials will determine whether the program should continue, according to Yakel.

Yakel said the trucks offer  locally produced food and support local businesses. "Let's give (passengers) some other new cuisine options," he said.

The trucks are open to airport employees and travelers in a  pre-security area. Tables and chairs have been set up for diners.
