Jack Brysons two sons were childhood friends of Oscar Grant III, and were on the train platform on New Year’s Day in 2009 when Grant was shot by a BART police officer in Oakland.

The shooting, which waas captured on videos by BART riders, sparked outrage around the country and led first-time director Ryan Coogler to make his feature film “Fruitvale Station.”

It also pushed Jack Bryson to become a community activist and spokesman on behalf of the “New Year’s Movement for Oscar Grant.”

Bryson says it’s hard for his sons to watch the movie.
