Punk rock may be most commonly associated with cities like London and New York, but the Bay Area has been a hotbed of punk ferment since the very beginning. We thrash out the history of that local subculture with the authors of “Gimme Something Better: The Profound, Progressive and Occasionally Pointless History of Bay Area Punk from Dead Kennedys to Green Day.”

Guests:

Jack Boulware, co-author of "Gimme Something Better" and co-founder and artistic director of Litquake, San Francisco's annual literary festival

Silke Tudor, co-author of "Gimme Something Better"

Jon Ginoli, founding member of Bay Area punk band Pansy Division and author of "Deflowered: My Life in Pansy Division"

Henry Rosenthal, musician, filmmaker and president of the Complex Corporation, a film production studio located in San Francisco
