The Art of Bay Area Boxing feat. Sons of the Sweet Science

From the gyms of East Oakland to national title stages, the Bay has a boxing legacy unlike anywhere else — and the next generation is already in the ring. Join us for an afternoon conversation about the history and future of the sweet science of boxing in this region.

Join filmmaker Renee Moncada-Mcelroy for a screening of her series Sons of the Sweet Science, which highlights local intergenerational connections within the sport. Wear your comfortable shoes, as that will be followed by a no-contact boxing demonstration led by former professional boxer and trainer Dalia “La Pantera” Gomez (also known as Coach G).

The event concludes with a keynote discussion between undefeated professional boxer Anthony Garnica and top-ranked amateur boxer Thomas McElroy Jr.
