Paint, Sip, & Play: A Mission District Game Night

It’s a Mission District-themed paint-&-sip experience! Whether you’re a beginner to lotería, or whether it’s a staple in your home, this KQED Live game night brings a local twist on the beloved Mexican game. Start by painting your lotería board, or tabla, which features a portrait of San Francisco Drag Laureate Per Sia. While you’re painting, enjoy a performance and conversation with Per Sia and Mission Lotería. Then, we play! Led by Mission Lotería, the game uncovers the rich history of San Francisco’s Mission District. 

Featuring artwork that celebrates the neighborhood’s people, landmarks, and traditions, Mission Lotería invites players to learn while they play. The evening also includes a conversation with one of the cultural keepers featured in the deck, offering stories that bring the cards to life. Come ready to paint, play, laugh, and connect all while learning about the special district many call home.
