Premiere Screening: Bird of Four Hundred Voices Feat. Los Cenzontles Live

Gather in The Commons for the Bay Area premiere of Bird of Four Hundred Voices, a powerful documentary about Eugene Rodríguez, founder of Los Cenzontles. 

For more than 35 years, Los Cenzontles has empowered generations of young people through music, dance, and storytelling while preserving and celebrating Mexican and Mexican American cultural traditions. Directed by Bay Area filmmaker James Hall, the film weaves together decades of archival footage, intimate interviews, and performances that showcase the organization’s lasting impact on artists and communities alike. The documentary also features appearances by cultural icons including Linda Ronstadt, Los Lobos, Lalo Guerrero, Taj Mahal, Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, Flaco Jiménez, and more.

Following the screening, stay for a conversation with filmmaker James Hall and special guests exploring the power of cultural preservation, intergenerational storytelling, and the arts as a catalyst for community. A special live performance by Los Cenzontles will kick off the screening.
