Screening: PBS Documentary MAKE A CIRCLE
Join us at the New Parkway Theater in Oakland for a screening of the new PBS documentary MAKE A CIRCLE: a love letter to early childhood educators and portrait of a child care system on the brink.
MAKE A CIRCLE pulls back the curtain on a quiet crisis: “Parents can’t afford to pay, and teachers can’t afford to stay.” Against this stubborn status quo, early educators meet the moment with humor, outrage, and a passion for supporting young children and families at the most critical time of their lives. Blending the magic they create in the classroom, the challenges they face at home, and their tireless fight for respect and fair pay, the film offers an intimate, moving look at a workforce on the frontlines of change — and a hopeful blueprint for reimagining early care and education in America.
The screening will be introduced by Co-Director Jen Bradwell and followed by a Q&A with KQED early childhood education journalist Daisy Nguyen, film participants and local early education leaders.
MAKE A CIRCLE will be presented by KQED for broadcast on PBS in September.
