Behind the Scene: DJs and Nightlife

The Bay’s sound is bold, boundary-pushing, and deeply rooted in community—from Hyphy and underground raves to punk rebellion and global influence. But what does it mean to make it in the Bay today?

Join us for an evening that explores the full spectrum of Bay Area dance music and nightlife—presented by KQED Live in collaboration with EMPIRE, HerDJClub, MAKEROOM, and SutroFM. It’s a night for those shaping local dance music and nightlife culture through sound, space, and connection.

There will be a DJ mixer & workshops at 6pm, conversation at 7pm, and we’re wrapping it up with a rooftop party to end the night.
