KQED Live joins Frameline in presenting a screening of MĀHŪ: A Trans-Pacific Love Letter.
Lisette Marie Flanary’s documentary explores the Native Hawaiian concept of gender fluidity by interweaving intimate interviews with multimedia stage performance.
A live performance by hula master Patrick Makuakāne — MacArthur Fellow and founding artistic director of the San Francisco-based dance company Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu — will follow the screening.
