The Crossword Show

Date and Time
Saturday, September 30, 2023 7:00 PM (PT)
Description
In The Crossword Show, Zach Sherwin (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Epic Rap Battles of History, MAD Magazine) hosts a panel of guest comedians as they solve an actual crossword puzzle live onstage, with everything displayed on a big screen so the audience can follow along. As the solvers decipher the various clues, Zach takes the show down rabbit holes of comedy, music, wordplay, and trivia, all inspired by the answer words. Everything ties together at the end for a grand finale that’s as satisfying as it is mind-blowing. You don’t need ANY crossword expertise to be dazzled by this joyful, life-affirming, one-of-a-kind experience!

HOST & GUESTS

ZACH SHERWIN is an American comedian, rapper, writer, and actor best known for writing for and performing in the Epic Rap Battles of History YouTube series, as well as writing for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on The CW. In 2022, Zach published his debut crossword puzzle in The New York Times, and he has also worked extensively as a TV audience warm-up comic, including at the live taping of the 2023 National Spelling Bee finals. NATASHA MUSE is a stand-up comedian and humorous writer who moved to San Francisco last century and hasn’t been pushed out of the City (yet). She likes puns, wordplay, and portmanteaus, and enjoys weaving them into jokes and comical bits about being trans, being a mom, and being alone with her thoughts. Some audiences don’t know what to make of her, so it’s a good thing she’s a self-made lady. When she’s not making scores of people laugh on stage, she’s plugging away at her blog. Natasha’s comedy is so good it’s not even funny.

TRACKADEMICS is a buzzing MC and producer from the Bay (Alameda, CA to be exact) who’s spent the past few years crafting standout tracks for everyone from Mistah FAB to J*Davey to Kid Sister to Phonte of Little Brother. The stylistic diversity of those in-demand productions is magnified tenfold in his own music – Track takes the energy of hyphy and the bump of classic Bay rap, mixes it with the smoothed-out sonics of vintage pop and r&b, and ties it all together with a crazy ear for melodies and a willingness to experiment, creating a new, wholly original Cali sound in the process.
