Russell City Blues with the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District
Celebrate the history and uncover the joy of Russell City, a lost Bay Area community, through on-stage interviews and storytelling with the people who lived there. A live band will be on hand to take us back in time, honoring the musical legacy of the town where the blues thrived until the bulldozers rolled in. Presented in partnership with the Hayward Area Recreation & Park District at the newly reopened Douglas Morrisson Theater.
The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, known locally as “H.A.R.D.,” is an independent special use district created to provide park and recreation services for over 309,000 residents. Our boundaries encompass a 100 square-mile area, which includes the City of Hayward and the unincorporated communities of Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, and Fairview.
