Crashing America‘s narrator, Girl, is a runaway torn between her yearnings for freedom and her need for belonging. She leaves San Francisco and, over the course of the novel, speeds into the heartland on a pilgrimage to meet Christian punks, landlocked farmers, wayfaring strangers — and to find her own sense of place.
