Hot off headlining the massive Fresh Start party on New Year’s Day, singer and producer Zhu will return to his hometown of San Francisco for a free live performance at the Chinatown Night Market. The Jan. 8 neighborhood block party doubles as the inauguration celebration for Mayor-Elect Daniel Lurie, who will be sworn into office earlier that day.

Zhu shot up the electronic music charts a decade ago with his hit “Faded,” and initially kept his face and identity hidden. Over the years, he’s worked with stars like Skrillex, Tinashe and fellow San Francisco hitmaker 24kGolden, and performed at massive festivals like Coachella. He recorded his latest album, 2024’s Grace, at San Francisco’s famed Grace Cathedral. The double album weaves textures from techno, dubstep and emo into 21 tracks with cinematic intensity.

Wednesday’s Chinatown Night Market will also feature a set from DJ Ruckus, plus artist and food vendors.

The Chinatown Night Market featuring Zhu takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 5:30–9:30 p.m. Details here.
