It’s Bay Area Dance Week again, which means you never know where you’ll run into a surprise dance performance: it could be in a plaza, a street, or even on the sides of tall buildings.

On Saturday, though, it’s the Golden Gate Park bandshell where you’ll find the biggest concentration of dance companies giving free performances in an all-day festival called Dancing in the Park. Running from 1pm-4:30pm, the event contains performances from 25 different companies and artists, including LINES Ballet, Robert Moses’ KIN, the AXIS Dance Company, Mark Foehringer Dance Project and many, many others.

For the hardcore fan and the curious newcomer alike, it’s a simple, free way to be exposed to the region’s dance offerings. Event page here.
