I'm With Her's Aoife O'Donovan, Sarah Jarosz and Sara Watkins (Shervin Lainez)

I’m With Her is a super-group of folk singer-songwriters made up of Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan. My co-host Eli Wirtschafter says he thought that the name was a tribute to the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign, but apparently they had the name before Clinton used it as a slogan.

All three women have made great music on their own or with other bands: Sara Watkins played with Nickle Creek and the Watkins Family Hour, while Aoife O’Donovan and Sarah Jarosz were solo artists. And the three harmonize just beautifully, at least partly because they often crowd around a single microphone. They say that’s how their songwriting works too; sometimes they don’t even remember who came up with which part of a song. Does it matter when the music gives you chills?

I’m With Her play San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall April 3, and then Santa Rosa’s Luther Burbank Center April 4. Details here.
