With South by Southwest luring over one thousand bands to Austin later this month, it's indie music touring season. While that means plenty of locals are already on the road, it also means some exciting opportunities to see buzzed-about out-of-town acts without taking a flight to Texas. Those acts include UK producer Forest Swords, touring around SXSW with like-minded electronic R&B act How to Dress Well. They are joined by the Syracuse punk band Perfect Pussy, whose debut LP Say Yes To Love arrives on March 18.
Closer to home, Tycho's, Awake, comes out later this month. It's Scott Hansen's first album in three years; in the interim, the instrumental rock musician has amassed a wide following, as evidenced by his sold-out Fillmore show in March. Meanwhile, Amnesia continues its great Tuesday residency series with the weekly two-fer of Cool Ghouls and SF psych trio Cellar Doors, who have been working on a full length album. Finally, we'd be remiss in not acknowledging a bittersweet local show, the final SF performance of psych-Americana outsider Mark Matos & Os Beaches before Matos moves to Joshua Tree.
