If it’s February, that means that it’s Noise Pop season, and Noise Pop 2014 will be taking over Bay Area venues from February 25 to March 2. We’ll be doing a ton of Noise Pop coverage on the site over the coming weeks and during the festival, but we’ve highlighted a few Noise Pop performers in this podcast too, including Majical Cloudz, Cities Aviv, and Future Twin. Future Twin is headlining our free Bay Bridged Noise Pop Happy Hour on February 28 at Bender’s with Cocktails and Blood Sister, which should be a really fun show with three exciting local bands.
Also of note: local band residencies are popping up more and more at San Francisco venues, a welcome development that allows bands to fine-tune new songs before entering the studio, as Social Studies did at the Brick & Mortar Music Hall a few months ago, and as WATERS is doing this month at the same venue. They also allow locals to curate bills showcasing the many talents of the SF scene; Bill Baird‘s residency at Amnesia, for example, features a wide variety of local talents. In summary, more local residencies please.
