The "pay it forward" ethos is evident in any Deadhead parking lot scene, from "miracle tickets" to a loose bartering system for good. So it only makes sense that Dead & Company, the group cobbled together from surviving members of the band plus John Mayer, would announce a free tour kick-off concert at the Fillmore scheduled for Monday, May 23.
Tickets go on "sale" via Ticketmaster on Thursday, May 19 at noon, right here. There's a two-ticket limit per person, and in an effort to curb scalping, you'll have to bring Photo ID to pick up your tickets at Will Call.
You'll also have to do something groovy for someone else to "pay" for the tickets. From the band's announcement:
For those who receive tickets, the band asks in return that they "pay it forward" in some way, large or small. Please share your good deeds and generosity with us, and let the cosmos know how you are paying it forward, by using the hashtag #DeadandCoSF.
Yes, you read it right: The Grateful Dead is now using hashtags.
